Guangdong Overseas Chinese Museum: Stories of Migration

Visit Ersha Island for an introduction to the people, journeys and overseas communities that helped shape Guangdong.

Tickets, opening hours and event schedules may change. Check the venue or organiser's latest announcement before visiting.

What the museum explores

Opened to the public in 2009, Guangdong Overseas Chinese Museum traces migration from Guangdong and the lives people built abroad. Its permanent displays explore departure, work and enterprise, cultural traditions, historical contributions, ties with home and overseas Chinese affairs.

The source describes more than 10,000 objects and sets of objects, alongside displays about overseas Chinese homes and the museum's own development. Allow time for the personal stories as well as the larger historical narrative.

The source lists free admission without advance reservation, Tuesday–Sunday 09:00–17:00, with Monday closure except public holidays or special arrangements.
