Sanyuan Palace stands on Yingyuan Road at the southern foot of Yuexiu Hill. Official accounts trace its predecessor, Yuegangyuan, to 319 CE and connect it with Bao Liang and his daughter Bao Gu, whose stories link religious practice, healing and local memory.
The complex was repaired and expanded over many periods. Ming-era rebuilding and the dedication to the Three Officials helped establish its later name and ritual layout. Its halls, Bao Gu Hall and inscriptions reflect successive additions rather than an unchanged Eastern Jin building.
Sanyuan Palace brings together religious tradition, local stories and life in the old city. Alongside the historic sites around Yuexiu Hill, its buildings and inscriptions reveal how Lingnan beliefs have continued through changing times.
