Guangdong Museum grew from the province's collecting, archaeological and cultural institutions. Its Zhujiang New Town building is part of Guangzhou's modern cultural center, introducing Guangdong's history, natural resources and arts.

Collections range from history and natural specimens to ceramics, Duan inkstones and Chaozhou woodcarving. They connect regional cultures, maritime trade and social change while explaining the distinctive craftsmanship of Lingnan.

Think of the museum as a broad introduction to Guangdong. Visiting before Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, Nanyue King Museum or Shamian helps place those individual sights within a wider historical and geographical story.
