Baishuizhai: Waterfalls, Forest Trails and a Long Climb

Follow the stream through Zengcheng's mountain forests, or tackle the steps beside the spectacular Baishui waterfall.

Tickets, opening hours and event schedules may change. Check the venue or organiser's latest announcement before visiting.

A mountain escape in Zengcheng

Baishuizhai lies in Paitan, where the Tropic of Cancer crosses a mountainous landscape of forest, streams and reservoirs. The wider scenic area covers roughly 170 square kilometres and includes nine peaks over 1,000 metres. Niuguzhang, the highest, reaches 1,088 metres.

The centrepiece is Baishui Xianpu, a waterfall with a reported drop of 428.5 metres on the 828-metre Baishuizhai mountain. Its name evokes a fairy descending from the sky; local folklore connects it with He Xiangu, one of the Eight Immortals.

Choose your walk

The waterside boardwalk is the gentler option. It follows the stream into the shaded valley, with plenty of opportunities to pause beside the water. You can enjoy this landscape without committing to the full mountain climb.

For a longer outing, the Tiannan Diyiti trail has 9,999 steps over approximately 6.6 kilometres. Its six sections connect three mountains and two upland lakes. Treat it as a substantial stair climb and choose a turnaround point that suits your group.

Getting there and admission

The source lists adult admission at $8.94 and concession tickets at $4.47. The scenic area is in Paitan, Zengcheng. Take Metro Line 14 to Conghua Coach Terminal, exit A, then bus Cong 13 to Baishuizhai terminus. Check the venue's current ticket and transport information before setting out.
