Shiqiao in a Day: Dim Sum, Old Lanes and Sweet Soups

Explore Panyu's everyday heritage through a relaxed sequence of neighbourhood stops.

Tickets, opening hours and event schedules may change. Check the venue or organiser's latest announcement before visiting.

Start with tea at Panyu Hotel

Panyu Hotel at 130 Dabei Road is a longstanding local dim sum destination. Its carved wood, pavilions and pond give breakfast a garden setting. Order a few familiar classics—har gow, siu mai and rice noodle rolls—and take your time. The source lists service from 07:30 to 22:00.

Make room for a park stop

Panyu Children's Park, at 30 Yingxing Middle Road, is described as about ten minutes away by bicycle. Its water-town theme, play equipment and lawns make it especially useful for families. The source lists 08:30–18:30; select the activities appropriate to your children.

Walk through Xianfeng Community

This historic neighbourhood preserves more than 60 old buildings, including grey-brick houses, wok-handle gables and oyster-shell walls. The eastern part of Xianfeng Street tells stories of the Xie family. Use 13 Xianfeng Street as a starting point and remember that this is also a residential area.

Continue to Xifang Courtyard

At 264 Huancheng West Road, a former factory has become a creative quarter of brick buildings, cafés and cultural spaces. The source highlights Migu Bookstore and its tall library-like interior. Outdoor streets may be accessible throughout the day, while individual businesses keep their own hours.

A sweet break on Danan Road

Despite its name, Chen Tea House serves traditional sweet soups rather than tea. Sesame paste, almond paste and lily-bulb and lotus-seed soup are among the favourites. The source lists 41 Danan Road, opening from 13:30 and closed on Saturdays.

Nearby, the church at 15–17 Danan Road combines stained glass with Lingnan decorative craft. Respect worship and any restrictions on entry or photography.

End by Qunyuan

Qunyuan, near 58 Changdi West Road, dates to 1941 and was the home of Li Fuqun. Its architecture blends Chinese and Western details. The source states that the grounds are not open to the public; enjoy the exterior without entering private or closed areas.
