Four Days in Guangzhou, at a Comfortable Pace

A day for Yuexiu, a day for Xiguan, a day by the modern riverfront and a day at Chimelong, with room to adapt the plan.

Tickets, opening hours and event schedules may change. Check the venue or organiser's latest announcement before visiting.

This route suits a first visit of four days and three nights, or a more relaxed five-day stay. If theme parks are not your thing, replace the final day with Baiyun Mountain and a slow walk around Dongshankou.

Day 1: Yuexiu and the historic city

Start at Yuexiu Park around 08:30 and focus on the Five Rams statue and main hill paths rather than trying to cover the whole park. Continue to Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall around 10:45 for the architecture and central axis. Choose lunch towards Beijing Road or Wenming Road.

Reserve the afternoon, roughly 14:00–16:30, for the Nanyue King Museum. Check reservations and Monday opening arrangements in advance. From 17:00, explore Beijing Road's ancient roadway, shops and dinner options, ending with Dafo Temple after dark.

Day 2: Xiguan, from craft to the waterfront

Visit Chen Clan Ancestral Hall around 09:00–11:00, paying attention to its roofs and carvings. Have lunch around Xihua Road or the old town, then spend 13:00–16:00 in Yongqing Fang, Enning Road and Lizhiwan.

Reach Shamian around 16:30 for softer light among the historic buildings and trees. After dinner, walk along the Pearl River or return towards Beijing Road for a late snack.

Day 3: museums and the skyline

Book Guangdong Museum for the morning, allowing time for security before a 10:00–12:30 visit. Lunch and a break in Zhujiang New Town keep the day comfortable. From about 14:30, walk through Huacheng Square and around Guangzhou Opera House.

Aim for Haixinsha or Haixin Bridge around 17:00–19:00 to connect sunset with the illuminated skyline. Afterwards, choose either a tower visit or a Pearl River cruise; fitting both expensive experiences into one evening can feel rushed.

Day 4: a full day at Chimelong Safari Park

Prepare tickets, identity documents, water, sun protection, rain gear and a power bank the night before. Arrive near opening time, check the day's map and schedules, and choose a loop that avoids repeated crossings of the park.

Use the cable car or safari train, when operating, to break up long walks. Eat before 11:30 or after 13:30 if you want to avoid the busiest lunch period. Finish near your exit and leave time for the return transport queue.

Choose a useful base

Beijing Road or Gongyuanqian works well for the old-town days. Zhujiang New Town or Tiyu Xilu suits the modern city and evening views. If you are spending more than one day at Chimelong, consider a night around Hanxi Changlong or Wanbo rather than commuting from the centre each day.
