Picnic Lawns in Guangzhou: Bring a Mat, Leave the Tent

Use the city's shared green spaces for a relaxed outdoor lunch while respecting each lawn's permitted activities.

Tickets, opening hours and event schedules may change. Check the venue or organiser's latest announcement before visiting.

A picnic area is not necessarily a camping area

The source list identifies lawns and woodland spaces opened for picnic mats, rest and casual outdoor recreation. It explicitly says that these areas are not designated for tents. Do not infer tent permission from the presence of other picnickers.

Planning your visit

Choose a park near the rest of your day's route, check its entrance and closing time, and look for the signs marking shared lawns. Bring food that is easy to carry, water and a bag for rubbish. Stay clear of planted beds and keep paths open.

Follow park management rules and any temporary restrictions. The shared spaces are for recreation, not unauthorised trading or commercial occupation. For places that allow tents, use the separate guide to designated day-tent areas.

Yuexiu and Tianhe

The source lists the lawn by Yuexiu Park's northeastern cloud-walk entrance; the large lawn at Ersha Island Art Park; Hongcheng Park's lawn; and Dongfeng Park's central lawn. In Tianhe, it lists the economic-plant woodland and teak lawn at South China National Botanical Garden.

Baiyun

The listed spaces include the lawn and woodland at Guangzhou Children's Park; the visitor lawn at Baiyun Lake's east lake; Daxue Park's Jiangcheng Road lawn; and Yongbo Park's Aiguo West Road lawn and woodland. Other entries cover lawns at Xipan Park, the Agricultural Demonstration Park, Jiangxia Park, Old Jiangxia Park, the Guangyun Road–Huangshi East Road park, Mawu Park, Shigang Park and Chentian Park.

Huangpu

Look for the specified areas: the lawn left of the plaza at Luogang Children's Park; Jianfengling Park's southeastern entrance; the management-office area by Ganzhushan Park's east gate; Chenglian Park's hillside path; Yushu Park's bamboo area; the lawn near Lingbo Bridge in Chuangye Park; the western pavilion area at Development Park; and the lawn beside the office at Zhongshan Park.

Panyu and Huadu

In Panyu, the source names the space beside guard post 9 in Nancun Qixinggang Forest Park. Huadu entries cover the southern lawn at Huadu Square, the central lawn in People's Park and the central-plaza lawn at Huadu Lake Wetland Park. These are designated parts of each park, not blanket permission to picnic anywhere.
