Yuexiu Hill has long been a strategic high point in Guangzhou. The park grew around its slopes and historical remains, including Zhenhai Tower, the Ming-era city wall and Sun Yat-sen Monument. Fortifications, memorials and modern public parkland occupy the same landscape.

Ming-era Zhenhai Tower now houses part of Guangzhou Museum. The Five Rams sculpture recalls the city's founding legend and has become one of its best-known symbols. Together, these landmarks make Yuexiu Hill a place of shared memory for Guangzhou residents.

A walk through Yuexiu Park reveals layers of the city's past among lakes and wooded paths. The Five Rams legend, old wall, tower and later monuments provide a useful introduction to Guangzhou's origins and identity.
